The Australian production of Hamilton has been presented with a very unique opportunity, as one of the only major live theatre productions occurring in the world, and if it could speak it would most certainly say "I'm not throwing away my shot!"

Hamilton conveys the true story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton through a unique musical theatre presentation. Rather than presenting the story through the traditional show-tunes style of musical theatre Miranda's version uses a cast comprising primarily people of colour and uses hip-hop/rap music to make this a show unlike any other.

The Australian version of Lin-Manuel Miranda's instant classic takes all of the elements that we know and love from the original stage and Disney+ versions and infuses them with some trademark Aussie flair. Doing this makes the story of America's forgotten founding father one which is especially compelling for an Australian audience.

The Australian cast make these characters truely compelling and convey the emotional weight of this story wonderfully. Standouts include Jason Arrow as Alexander Hamilton, Victory Ndukwe as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Chloé Zuel as Eliza Hamilton, Shaka Cook as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, and Brent Hill as King George.

Having watched, and adored Hamilton on Disney+, I walked into the Lyric Theatre with incredibly high expectations for this show and yet these expectations were still exceeded. Witnessing Hamilton live is a truely special experience, which saw me connecting with the story more deeply on an emotional level.

Hamilton at the Lyric Theatre is a must watch!
